Stuntman Breaks Down Motorcycle Scenes from Movies | GQ

  • I honestly thought all movie stunts were fake or CGI

  • wopple or fish-tail. "You must try to keep the bike as straight as possible" No. Make a turn to shift the "center of weight" (i think its called) its standing like a pencil on your fingertip, its totally of balance and it can´t do it. So you must change something in the balance. Big turns. Shift the weight to the side of the tires....... Yes tried it and talk with others who did it. Don´t fight the bike on the center, take control of the turn. Make a turn at +100 m/h. That means using 4 lanes in and out. You bike will settle and you can brake.

  • Andy Godbold is 1 of the uks best motor bike stunt men.... he did mission impossible, tomb raider and attack the block to name just 3 of the many films he has done.. I had the pleasure of riding with him in the bolddog freestyle team 15 years ago at the start of uk freestyle mx.... Most films today don't use incredible riders like Andy and the cgi stuff looks fake.... Bring back the days of real stunt men and realism....

  • I onow tom cruise likes to do most of his own stunts and he said he did in that movie. He said they were going 70- 80 in that one scene. Tom didnt have a helmet on. Yet everyone else did. Was he really going tha fast doing crazy stunts, veering in and out, going around hairpin curves? I know hes ridden a motorcycle his whole life but seems crazy they would let him do that.

Benji The BobcatBenji The Bobcat8 kun oldin

  • Really well done explanation... I just think that Stunt Performers should sometimes get paid more so than Actors , specialy when its Practical and when they take on the Actors shot or rehearsal... Of course not with some great experienced Actors like Tom Cruise or the actor of Bond. The Skyfall scene in Istanbul actually one of my close friends and my personal Barber who works in a Barbershop in my Hometown was there during the scenes of Skyfall Bond Movie... it was great and he showed me his Video Clip when the acting was done i think in 2013 ( He's turkish of course , and he was in a Holiday at Istanbul ). But he had no idea which movie was it untill i briefed him about it 😅 Usually turkish people dont watch that many Western or American Movies , but here in the Middle East most Hollywood Movies are known for sure lol 😆

  • Strange. With Cruise, he comments on how he actually risks his life in chases; with Reeves he says you absolutely must have a stunt double.

    Pavel AdamekPavel Adamek25 kun oldin
    • Cruise is the producer. So what he says goes. TC even fired the films insurance company because they wouldn’t back a stunt. So he found one that would. Keanu is a part of the John Wick franchise (could be a producer now that they are 3 films deep) but most likely what the producers and directors say goes. Though Keanu does do a bunch of stunts himself.

  • The problem with the bike flipping backwards is the back wheel would need to out speed the front, like a wheelie. If the back wheel lock up, which is hard because the engine torque would blow through most things, the bike is more likely to slide. It can flip forward, because as the bike slows, the mass of the bike shifts forward to the front wheel.

  • I saw a Great Escape documentary and they said that sometimes Steve McQueen was filmed as some of the soldiers who were chasing his character on the motorcycle because the stunt guys couldn't ride as well as him for those shots; they needed to sell it that the soldiers were good enough riders to keep up and only he could make it look that good. He was apparently an amazing rider and did the fence jump a few times.

    David RectorDavid Rector28 kun oldin
    • David I'm afraid it's a bit of an urban myth that Steve McQueen did the actual jumps. His friend Bud Ekins (a stuntman) did the jump sequences. McQueen did pretty much everything else though.
